Hover Quick Preview is built with your privacy as a first principle — we don't collect, store, or share any of your data.
Hover Quick Preview does not collect, store, or share any personal user data.
The extension operates locally within the user's browser and only accesses product information on supported e-commerce websites to display availability previews (such as sizes and colors).
No personal information, browsing history, or sensitive data is collected or transmitted to any external servers.
Hover Quick Preview does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:
We never record which websites you visit, which products you hover over, or any navigation activity.
No names, email addresses, IP addresses, device identifiers, or any other personally identifiable information.
We do not read, store, or transmit your cart contents, order history, payment info, or any shopping activity.
No telemetry, crash reports, feature usage tracking, or analytics of any kind are collected or sent.
We do not set cookies, read third-party cookies, or use any browser fingerprinting techniques.
Hover Quick Preview operates entirely on-device. Here is exactly what happens when you use it:
The extension's content script detects the hover event on your page — this happens locally in your browser tab.
To show size and color availability, the extension may make a network request directly to the same website you are already visiting (e.g., a Shopify product JSON endpoint). This is a direct browser-to-website request — identical to what that website's own code would do. No data passes through our servers.
The popup is rendered entirely within your browser using a Shadow DOM. It disappears the moment you move your cursor away. Nothing is stored.
Product variant data may be cached in memory for up to 5 minutes to reduce repeat requests. This cache is cleared automatically when you close or reload the tab. It is never written to disk or sent anywhere.
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions. Here is exactly why each one is needed:
storageUsed only to save your enable/disable toggle preference (on or off). One boolean value. Nothing else.
host_permissions: <all_urls>Required so the extension can inject the hover listener and fetch product variant data on any shopping website you visit. Without this, the extension would only work on a pre-approved list of domains. We do not use this permission to read, collect, or transmit your browsing activity.
Hover Quick Preview does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data services. We do not share any information with third parties because we do not collect any information to share.
When the extension fetches product data, it communicates directly with the website you are already visiting — not with any server we operate or control.
Hover Quick Preview does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The extension is a passive browser utility with no accounts, sign-up, or data submission of any kind.
If we ever update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Any future version of the extension that collects data will clearly disclose that change in the Chrome Web Store listing and in this policy before the update ships.
Our commitment: Hover Quick Preview will always be a zero-data-collection extension. If that ever changes, you will know before installing any update.
Have a question about this policy or how the extension works? We're happy to help.
